The Pentagon Plane Puzzle

is a new 9/11 truth film work-in-progress being created by pioneering 9/11 truth video producer Ken Jenkins.

A trailer for the film can be seen .

A preview draft of the film which features a presentation by David Chandler .

The information in the film is based primarily on papers published at several websites (listed below), and is also based on the pioneering website of Jim Hoffman found here:

The authors of these papers and websites are serving as the primary consultants on this film.

You can read many of those papers at , and they are individually listed below (with links).

Please start with this new, short paper:

Resolving the conflict within the 9/11 Truth movement over the question of the Pentagon Plane

For over 14 years there has been a growing conflict within the 9/11 truth movement regarding the plane that was said to have hit the Pentagon building on 9/11. Because this strong disagreement has been more divisive than any other single issue in the history of our movement, and because speculation and lack of consensus harm our credibility, there is need for resolution.

There are a number of understandable reasons for the initial uncertainty regarding the events at the Pentagon on 9/11. In the aftermath of the fireball, there was an unusual lack of large and obvious plane wreckage visible outside the Pentagon, as is normally seen at most plane crash sites. Yet many witnesses saw the plane impact the building. As a result, there were inconsistent witness statements that lead to confusing early reports from sources like the Associated Press. There was also an initial lack of video and photographs of the plane impact. In the following days, there were mistaken interpretations of a few early photographs of the pre-collapse exterior of the burning Pentagon façade.

In the resulting ambiguity and chaos, speculation grew. One of the first theories that emerged argued that a truck bomb, not a plane, caused the damage at the Pentagon. Months later, new speculation asserted that it was a missile that struck the building. Later, other theories emerged, including impact by a Global Hawk, an F-16, an A-3 Skywarrior, a small commuter jet, a 737, and later, a flyover and planted explosives.

These various theories are all, at least in some key respects, mutually exclusive. These theories are also at odds with:

  • The vast majority of the 180 known Pentagon witnesses.

  • The evidence from the long damage trail, revealed in the many photographs of plane wreckage found inside and outside the Pentagon building.

  • Many photographs of at least a dozen damaged obstacles – including five light poles and the massive generator trailer – all of which were directly in the plane’s approach path.

The various speculative theories also conflict with photographs, video, and the extensive professional analysis of the Pentagon Building Performance Report.

Over the last decade, FOIA requests have resulted in the release of revealing new information and data, including more surveillance camera footage, the “black box” data from the FDR (Flight Data Recorder) which was found among the wreckage inside the Pentagon, the combined radar data of American Airlines Flight 77, and the ATC (Air Traffic Control) recordings related to that particular flight. Interestingly, the evidence and data from these diverse sources agree remarkably closely with one another.

Despite this progress, internal strife between those supporting the many conflicting speculative theories not only continues undiminished, it increases whenever new theories come along. The ambiguity and lack of accord within our movement leaves us vulnerable to legitimate criticism.

However, there is increasing hope for resolution. The same kind of science-based approach that Steven Jones, David Chandler, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, and many others have used to examine the WTC evidence is now being used to examine the Pentagon evidence. A growing body of scholarly papers on this subject has been published.

Unfortunately, those papers are not widely read within our movement, and many of our fellow truth seekers do not even know that they exist. Few even know of the abundance of evidence those papers are based on, including photographic, video, analysis of instrument data, and statistical analysis of the testimonies of the 180 Pentagon witnesses that are on record.

A film would make this evidence and analysis much more accessible to many more people. Our movement needs a film that carefully and dispassionately examines ALL of the evidence and that would, like the growing number of papers on this subject, employ scientific rigor.

Fortunately, such a film is in production, primarily based on those papers. It is titled The Pentagon Plane Puzzle. At the following link please see the current working draft of .  To see a trailer for the film .

Pentagon surveillance camera video frames

gif-cropped2x

The video frames seen here were released in 2006 in response to a FOIA request for surveillance camera videos recorded at or near the Pentagon on 9/11.  Two video frames from released footage are seen here as a GIF animation. These frames are from the second security camera at the Pentagon, the one that had an unobstructed view of the plane’s approach path.  Two adjacent frames are displayed alternately, as is seen here, in what is called a “blink comparator”.

Blink comparators are commonly used in astronomy to facilitate the detection of subtle moving objects like comets and asteroids, which are difficult to isolate and identify when surrounded by a sky full of stars.

The image of the plane is subtle yet visible in the one frame that captured it.  However, except for the white smoke trail, the plane is not seen clearly in a still image, mostly due to three factors:

1 – The low contrast between the backlit plane and the background.

2 – The wide angle lens and low resolution of the video camera recording.

3 – Motion blurring of the plane flying at over 550 mph.

As seen here as a gif animation, the plane stands out from the background due to the blinking of two video frames, one frame which includes the plane and the prior frame that doesn’t.

Another key to being able to see the plane is the use of full quality source images as originally released.  Many of the copies that have been circulating on the Internet for years from these camera recordings are degraded compared to the frames used here.

To see this GIF explained, and to see the full frame image it was cropped from also displayed as a “blink” GIF, plus the other Pentagon camera frames (from the 5-frame sequence from 2002) with the same blink comparison feature, go to David Chandler’s website .
